X11 is a window-system protocol used to provide graphical displays and input on Unix-like systems.

Keyboard settings

Set layout to EURkey, swap Caps Lock and Control keys:

localectl set-x11-keymap "eu,us" "" "" "ctrl:swapcaps"

On hi-DPI screens, the UI at full resolution can be too tiny.

In ~/.Xresources, set a DPI fitting the screen and scale the mouse cursor:

Xft.dpi 144
Xcursor.size 32

For the current session:

setxkbmap -option "compose:rwin"

Persistent configuration:

localectl set-x11-keymap "eu,us" "" "" "compose:rwin"
