Hello, I’m Jochen Lillich.
I’m an entrepreneur and IT veteran with decades of experience in software engineering and system administration.
I started my career in 1990 as a freelance software developer. After graduating with a B.S. in Computer Science, I worked as a web developer, ran an Open Source consulting business, taught system administration and software development, and managed teams at two of Germany’s largest internet companies.
In 2010, I founded freistil IT, a distributed team of web operations experts which I’m still leading as Managing Director and CTO. Our managed hosting platform freistilbox handles millions of page requests for thousands of websites every day.
I live with my family near Dublin, Ireland.
I’ve been an active speaker in the IT space since 1999 and have given keynotes and presentations at international conferences such as DrupalCon, Open Source Data Centre Conference and DevOps Days, and at many open source community events all over Europe. As Track Chair, I also helped curate the DevOps track at DrupalCon Europe in 2013.
